Is a band from Montreal made of members from Sonic Avenues (Dirtnap Records, Taken By Surprise) and Priors (Slovenly, Drink & Drive Records), with Max and Chance at the heart of the formation.
It’s during the winter of 2018 that the two met up for the first time as New Vogue to record a few demos that Max had written a few days before. Armed with a single mic, a Tascam Board, a Space Echo and a few other effects, they recorded the 6 songs that would later become their first official release. A few weeks later, this EP appeared on Anti’s YouTube
channel – formerly known as Jimmy – a reference in the eclectic, artsy punk subculture. The physical version of the release was put out
in cassette format on Max’s own label - Sound Salvation Music – and sold out within just a few weeks.
The live formation of the band saw the light of day during the following summer as the duo wanted to take their art on the stage. Cameron (guitar) and Taylor (drummer) from Barn Burner – another
Montreal band - joined the group. This expression of New Vogue lasted a few months until Taylor’s departure in late 2019; this rupture coincided with the unfortunate beginning of the pandemic which
forced the members to put the band in sleep mode for a while. That said, New Vogue still wanted to keep going and record a follow-up to their first EP. It’s during the winter of 2020 that Max started to
write and track the songs that would later become a mini-LP called Volume Deux, a collection of songs that will be released on Casbah Records (France) and Drink & Drive Records (Belgium) on
November 12th 2021.
The live band, now made of members from Priors, Sonic Avenues and The Kamikazes (Max’s first
band), will return to the stage following the release of Volume Deux. This is still just the beginning !
